Life on a sailboat delivers an abundance of new experiences. One things I’ve learned however, is these experiences are all around us.
From the boat we’ve seen the best airshow acrobats, the best fireworks and the best shuttle launches.
In our last anchorage I woke up one morning to a truck and trailer on the sea wall and some interesting boats coming into the harbor. My curiosity peaked I proceeded to check it out.
I’m not being nosy, really, I mean it. Just curious.
I think it was the backpack with Burn Notice embroidered on the back. He was carrying too much equipment to be one of the principal characters, but intriguing all the same.
As it was, he was probably just a local union grip working a commercial. You can imagine my temporary excitement however if I’d run into Michael, Fiona or Sam? The grip probably has worked on the show, but not that day.
Then last night, I looked out the port hole and found a bright light in the sky. On closer inspection it wasn’t a UFO, but the MetLife blimp.
If we open our eyes and get curious, we can see all kinds of amazing things.
Are you an observer, or are you too busy to notice the small stuff?
How exciting for you! I would’ve been all atwitter as well if Burn Notice was filming right outside my window. They might’ve been getting stock footage, so who knows, you and your boat might be in a episode. How cool would that be? Now I’m going to look for you when we watch the show!
As for that MetLife thing… we had one here at the beach yesterday. How strange. I wonder if it’s really an invasion disguised as insurance ads… yikes.
You weren’t being nosy! You’re a writer, that was ‘research’. ; )
Tameri, welcome aboard! LOL I love it, yep, I was doing research!
How freaking COOL!!!
I am a total observer. I try to take in anything and everything around me. Drive poor hubby insane. LOL. But you are right, you never know what you are going to come across when you are paying attention to the world around you.
Natalie, I find life so much more full when we pay attention to the smallest stuff.
I’m a big time observer. At least I always think I am, but hubby is a bigger one!
I think fireworks are best seen from a boat….it just makes them even more…magical. =)
We were going to the source of the fireworks last year, but the weather wasn’t cooperating. Instead, we watch three private shows surrounding us with at least $1000 of fireworks a piece. All we had to do was watch.
Observer for sure. I love to carry my camera with me. So many amazing and beautiful things surround us. From blushing sunrise to firey sunset. When I am driving bus or just plain with out the camera I often lament, *Gee, what you’ll see when you do’t have the camera!*
I love my camera! I also feel bereft when I see something and don’t have it.
I love seeing the “small stuff.” Especially the everyday things. For me, I do this through the lens of the camera, seeing life in a different perspective that way 🙂
Joanne, Welcome Aboard Fawkes. Yes, a camera has also been my lens but it doesn’t look into people very well. I have to do that myself.
My camera has been an additional appendage of mine for a very long time. I envy you some of the fabulous perspectives you can only find on the water. Will you be aboard for Christmas or are you going elsewhere? Where are you anchored at the moment? Wherever you may be floating, have a very happy Christmas!
Thanks Patricia, You have a Merry Christmas as well. We’ll be in the water somewhere. We’ll wait to see what direction the wind is blowing.
